The Waukesha Board of Public Works on June 18 elected officers, approved routine minutes and payments, authorized a $17,009.77 change order for improvements at Grama Park Formal Gardens and approved both a developers agreement and a stormwater maintenance agreement for the Winterberry Reserve subdivision on Summit Avenue.
A city staff member summarizing the Grama Park work said additional items completed by the contractor and by city crews led to extra costs: electrical repairs performed by staff, irrigation repairs needed after electrical work damaged newly installed irrigation, replacement of some additional sidewalk squares, and an overrun in three-quarter-inch clear graded stone used as the base for the Flexi Pave surface. “So total amount of this change order is $17,009.77,” the staff member said. Alderman Joe Piper moved to approve change order #1; Kevin Riley seconded, and the board voted unanimously to approve the additional funding.
City staff also presented a developers agreement between the City of Waukesha and PH Winterberry Reserve LLC for phase 2 of the Summit Avenue subdivision, a project sited near Fire Station 5 and the Oliver Sports Complex. A person on site identified himself as Matt during the discussion. Joe Piper moved to approve the developers agreement as presented; the motion passed unanimously.
The board then reviewed and approved a separate stormwater management practice maintenance agreement for Winterberry Reserve, intended to cover long-term stormwater upkeep for the subdivision. Kevin Riley moved to accept the stormwater agreement and the board approved it by unanimous vote.
The meeting also covered routine business: a roll call and the election of Chad ODonnell as chairperson and Kevin Riley as vice chair, approval of the June 4 minutes and approval of eight payments under Item 5a. During review of payments, a board member asked whether payment #8 was related to Fire Station 23 and a three-way transfer switch for a portable generator; staff confirmed that the payment covers that work.
Staff closed by listing several upcoming bids and rebids with closing dates in late June, including the Greedy Park irrigation installation rebid, the Greenway Terrace playground resilient surface rebid (which staff said came in significantly over estimate), street improvement projects on Luke Avenue and Walton Avenue, a Reuben Drive pump station replacement, and a Waukesha Public Library revolving door repair project. A board member asked whether staff had changed project specs to encourage different bids for Greenway Terrace; staff said they planned to re-evaluate how the project is bid and reach out to more contractors.
