ODOT-funded striping and pavement-marking contracts approved by Orrville council

On Sept. 16 the Orrville City Council approved actions to advance the WAY VAR PM striping and pavement-marking project, which city staff said is fully funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Council adopted Resolution 25-24 to allow the Board of Control to enter a contract without bidding with Omnipro Services LLC for construction administration and inspection; staff explained ODOT requires the construction administrator be different from the designer and that design work was done in-house by Abbie. Later, Resolution 28-24 authorized a contract for pavement markings with A & A Safety, Inc., after bids opened and the lowest bid came in just under $400,000.
Officials emphasized the project is paid through ODOT funds (including an earmark by the late Rep. Ralph Regula) and that the contract will be sent to ODOT for approval before work begins, expected around the first of October. City staff said no local funds are required for the construction or administration contracts.
Council adopted both measures after suspending the three-reading requirement and recorded the procedures in the meeting minutes.
