The Dresden Selectboard spent part of its May 19 meeting reviewing town operations, including the Transfer Station, Fire Department and roadwork plans.
At the Transfer Station, board members discussed drainage concerns near the compactor, the need to replace first‑aid kits, a failed walkie‑talkie, and the potential purchase of a commercial snowblower; Transfer Station operator Ernie reported continued heavy use and will advise the board on a preferred model. The board asked staff to follow up on equipment needs.
The Fire Department reported low call volume, ongoing training and active participation by newer members. Plans are underway for a retirement recognition honoring Gorham “Pean” Lilly; the board discussed recovering Town‑owned equipment that remains in possession of former members.
On roads, updates included brush cutting and planned work on Orchard Hill Road, Alexander Road and Indian Road. The board discussed preparations to pave approximately one mile of Indian Road during the upcoming construction season and directed staff to prepare a request for proposals for the paving project.
No formal votes were recorded on capital purchases during this portion of the meeting; the board will review recommendations and cost estimates at a future meeting.
