The Kasson City Council approved two economic-development items and set a public hearing for proposed sidewalk assessments.
The EDA recommended, and the council approved, a façade-improvement reimbursement to 507 FAST for $488.56 (50% match on a $977.11 project) after reviewing photos and the application. The council also approved a technical-assistance award for Forever Use Studios, allowing up to $1,000 under the program guidelines to help the small photography business improve branding and its web presence once the applicant demonstrates the private contribution.
Separately, staff presented a resolution calling a public hearing on three sidewalk assessment/extension projects as directed by the council. Council approved placing the hearing on the July meeting agenda; staff will send required notices to affected property owners per Minnesota Statute (Chapter 429) and publish required public notices.
Why it matters: the EDA actions support very small local-business investments and the sidewalk hearing begins the statutorily required assessment-notice process that could assign partial costs to benefiting property owners in July.
