Resident asks township to press regional library trustees after local branch remains closed nearly a year

McMahon said Pocono and Jackson Township taxpayers still pay library levies while the Eastern Monroe branch that serves the area is not open. She said she planned to attend the Eastern Monroe Public Library board of trustees meeting the following morning and that she would file a Right‑to‑Know request to determine how township tax dollars are being used.
Board members acknowledged the comment and staff said they would share contact information and continue to explore options for local space, including potential uses of township buildings. Pat told McMahon staff had met an appointee from the Pocono Jackson Historical Society and would follow up with contact information. No formal action was taken at the meeting, but staff indicated interest in coordinating with the library trustees and finding possible local space for services.
