Wymore council raises per-diem to $50, sets downtown holiday light timing and tables EMS medical director appointment

The Wymore City Council voted to increase the city per-diem rate from $35 per day to $50 per day during its Dec. 6 meeting (motion by Councilmember Sue Sapp, second by Max Allen). The motion passed unanimously.
Staff member Tim told the council he would like to turn off downtown street lights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 and possibly on Christmas Eve so community members can enjoy the downtown holiday lights; council agreed the timing, saying the event has become an annual tradition.
Council reviewed a proposed contract for a possible new EMS Medical Director, Dr. Jason Krueger, which the minutes say is similar to the prior director's contract with Noah Bernhardson. Mayor Collin Meints said he had been unable to reach Dr. Krueger and asked to speak with him before the council appoints him; a motion by Councilmember Sue Sapp, seconded by Max Allen, carried 4-0 to table the appointment until the next meeting.
The meeting also included an update on dilapidated buildings: staff reported no new information, and the minutes record that LincOne Bank has committed to demolish two properties it owns at its own expense. Public commenter Mark reported a recent water leak in the bathroom off the bay and said city staff elected to update the bathroom while repairs were made. The council adjourned at 8:13 p.m.
