Council accepts firefighter resignation, removes inactive member; fire department reported mutual aid activity

The Wymore City Council on March 6 accepted the resignation of Robert Fletcher from the Wymore Fire Department; the resignation was presented to the council by Mark Meints and was accepted in good standing (motion carried 4-0).
The council also removed Chuck Buess from the fire department roster under department by-laws for inactivity; that motion also carried 4-0. Mark Meints reported that two Wymore firefighters worked a 12-hour shift providing mutual aid at a fire in North Platte; personnel also responded from Barneston and Fairbury. He further noted that the department has permits to burn a structure at 321 N 11th but has not been able to burn it because of wind and dry weather and will send new proposed dates for a permitted burn.
Mayor Collin Meints announced the death of Walt Henrichs, a former member of the Wymore Fire Department. The council later entered executive session for personnel-related matters and returned before adjourning.
