The Wymore City Council voted on March 6 to sponsor the Sam Wymore Days fireworks show for up to $4,500 from the city's Keno funds. Council members noted the city paid $3,500 of the $4,500 cost last year. The motion to sponsor up to $4,500 passed 4-0.
Separately, the council approved City-Wide Cleanup on April 22 and April 23 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The council asked that a flyer be posted on the city's Facebook page and sent to the local paper; Mayor Meints said volunteers had offered to place printed flyers around town. The cleanup motion passed unanimously.
Next steps: Staff will prepare and distribute publicity materials and coordinate with contracted haulers to manage accumulated tires and other items. Tim Sedlacek reported a company from Kansas will pick up tires the city has accumulated following the county's discontinuation of tire amnesty.
