City Attorney Andy Carothers told the Wymore City Council on March 6 that the city mailed its application for the State Revolving Fund ' Revitalize Rural Nebraska Grant Program on Feb. 26; the application package included a blight and substandard study and a downtown revitalization plan. The state required the application to be postmarked by Feb. 29.
Andy said the city has tried to contact property owner Marlene Nickell about deeding the property at 207 S 7th to the city to allow demolition. If the owner does not convey the property, Andy said the city has already condemned the building and can proceed with demolition under applicable procedures. Tim Sedlacek asked that two additional properties (408 N 8th and 422 N 7th) be added to the demolition list; Andy will investigate the ownership of those parcels.
Mark Meints said the Fire Department has the permits needed to burn the structure at 321 N 11th but has been unable to complete a burn because of wind and dry weather; he will submit new burn dates. The council received these updates as part of broader downtown revitalization and property maintenance planning.
