Coralville fire chief reports department growth and jump in ISO rating to 2

Fire Chief Orey Schwitzer delivered the Coralville Fire Department report, reviewing the department's organizational structure, recent incidents, equipment and training efforts, candidate recruitment and service recognition. Schwitzer told the council that the department's Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating has progressed from a 6 to a 2, and he noted that a 1 is the highest ISO rating and that very few departments nationwide hold the top rating. The chief framed the change as the result of staffing and operational improvements. No formal action was taken during the work session.
