The Coralville City Council on March 24 set two public hearings: April 28, 2026 for the Fiscal Year 2027 budget and April 14, 2026 for an application to the Iowa Economic Development Authority for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to replace private water and sewer lines on 4th Avenue Place.
Deputy City Administrator Ellen Habel said the CDBG application seeks $356,974 to replace an aging private water line and a dilapidated sewer line, provide redundancy for fire service and replace the street. The city would contribute a local match of $260,628. Habel noted the infrastructure was originally constructed as part of private development but the city now owns property on both sides of the street and has maintenance responsibilities.
On the budget timeline, Habel confirmed meetings will continue at the regular 6:30 p.m. time and City Attorney Kevin Olson reminded the council that legislative per diem ends after the 100-day session; staff noted April 28 is the last expected regular meeting to adopt the FY2027 budget to meet certification deadlines with the county auditor and Iowa Department of Management by April 30.
Both resolutions to set the hearings were adopted.
