Deputy City Administrator Ellen Habel updated the Coralville City Council on early Fiscal Year 2027 budget considerations, saying staff continues to monitor pending property tax legislation and is reviewing transit funding options.
Habel said lost (Local Option Sales Tax) revenues tied to the recreation center project could leave funds available for other uses and that the council requested a future agenda item to discuss options for any LOST funds not required for the project. No vote or formal direction was recorded during the work session.
Finance Director Ann Hester left the meeting during the budget discussion. The council did not adopt budget decisions at the work session; staff indicated further discussion and analysis will follow as legislation and revenue projections become clearer.
