Council approves local operator Bread Garden for Brown Deer Golf Club food services

City Parks & Recreation Director Sherri Proud told the council on March 24 that staff recommended rejecting prior proposals and awarding food and beverage operations at Brown Deer Golf Club to Bread Garden on Campus, a local operator affiliated with Mondanaro Properties.
Proud said staff were concerned the prior bidder did not demonstrate a viable local presence or plans for hiring local management and preparing banquet food. The Bread Garden agreement restores the facility’s restaurant to the neighborhood name Divots Bar and Grill and the upper level to The Clubhouse at Brown Deer. The license term runs May 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2030, with escalated payments of 7.5% once annual sales exceed $800,000.
Council adopted Resolution No. 2026-40 rejecting all prior proposals and Resolution No. 2026-41 approving the license agreement with Bread Garden on Campus. Councilmembers voiced support for selecting a local business operator.
