"Our economy runs on child care and our state must invest in it to make it more affordable and accessible for all," said Yara Wilman (workplace justice director, New Jersey Citizen Action), who urged the council to pass the resolution.
The council voted to adopt the resolution and members called on residents to contact state legislators to press for budget changes. Council members said they would relay the council’s support to legislators and that the city will continue to engage with advocates on childcare funding and local supports.
