Court approves 12‑month extension on Artura towing dispatch contract; tow operators ask for negotiations

Gary Hasten, president of the Williamson County Tow Operators Association and a retired sheriff’s deputy, urged the court to address problems with the county’s Artura towing dispatch contract and said tow-operator voices had not been previously heard. "Their voice has not been heard, when this contract came about under a previous sheriff administration," Hasten said.
Commissioner Covey moved to approve the addendum extending the Artura contract for 12 months and to direct staff to meet with the sheriff's office and tow-operator representatives to work on possible solutions before the extension expires. The court approved the motion on the record (motion carried 3-0). Commissioner Covey said she wanted meetings with the sheriff and 911 staff to develop options to bring back to the court.
