Woodbury County supervisors approve consent agenda and lower speed limits on K29 and K45

The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors opened its meeting, approved the agenda and passed a consent agenda that included minutes, claims, human resources personnel actions and scheduling public hearings for a Kitten Center CDBG grant and zoning map hearings. The board approved those routine items by voice vote, with the clerk noting the motions and the chair announcing the result as unanimous (4–0).
The board then adopted two resolutions lowering posted speed limits on county roads. Laura Severs of Secondary Roads presented a city request from Sergeant Bluff to reduce the speed on K29 (Old Lakeport) to 35 mph because of new ball fields, adjacent residential development and joint maintenance responsibilities. Sergeant Bluff City Administrator Aaron Lincoln told the board that the city council had recommended pursuing a 35 mph limit. The board approved the resolution by voice vote, 4–0.
Severs also described a request tied to the South Bridge interchange project on K45. She said final roadway design (width and turn lanes) and the presence of a new signal at the 235th Street intersection mean a posted 45 mph limit on the southern approach would be appropriate once the interchange and signal are built. The board approved that resolution by voice vote, 4–0.
