Preparation of the application requires site work, mapping and writing; Beta quoted up to $8,000 to complete the application package.
Commissioners acknowledged the risk that the town would pay the preparatory cost regardless of whether the grant is awarded but said the site work and documents would still be useful for future funding rounds or town-backed implementation. The commission approved the expenditure by voice vote and discussed coordinating testimony and support at the Community Preservation Committee meeting where the CPC will consider related town funding.
What happens next: Beta will be engaged to prepare the application and staff will coordinate commission presence at the CPC to show support for the Maple Hill proposals.
