Valparaiso trustees approve street closures for Val Days car show and parade; chair abstains

Trustee Pierce moved to allow street closures for the Val Days car show on June 5, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., specifying Second Street from Spruce to Oak and Pine Street from Second Street to Third Street; Trustee Draper seconded the motion. The board voted: Turnwall, yes; Brightenburg, yes; Pierce, yes; Draper, yes; Homes, abstain. The motion carried.
Trustee Brightenburg then moved to approve street closures for the Val Days parade on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 4:30 p.m., listing Seventh Street from Spruce to Pine, Pine Street from Seventh to Second, and Second Street from Pine to Oak; Trustee Turnwall seconded. Trustees voted: Draper, yes; Turnwall, yes; Brightenburg, yes; Pierce, yes; Homes, abstain. That motion also passed.
