Board recognizes outgoing student trustees and swears in three new student trustees

The Vallejo City Unified School District board on June 17 adopted a resolution recognizing the service of the district’s 2025–26 student trustees and introduced the incoming 2026–27 student trustees.
Trustees read a resolution documenting the history of student representation in the district and formally recognized outgoing student trustees Sonia Valdez Jacobo, Baraj (Abrab/Abob) and Zinaya De Leon for their service. The board adopted the resolution by roll call vote 4–0 with one absence; trustees and audience members applauded the student leaders.
The board then introduced the new student trustees who will serve in 2026–27: Sarai Portis (Jesse Bethel High School), Samara Williams (John F. Kennedy High School) and Ibrahim Eddaye (Vallejo High School). Each offered brief remarks about priorities and their eagerness to represent students at district meetings.
The recognition and swearing-in were accompanied by photos and applause in the board chambers; no formal actions beyond the resolution were taken.
