Commissioners rename unnamed road, accept donations and approve routine reports

At the May 4 meeting the Henderson County Board of Commissioners completed a slate of routine consent and public‑hearing items.
The board approved a motion to rename an unnamed right‑of‑way to Hoglen Branch Ln for property addressing and E911 purposes after staff confirmed owner agreement and completed required public notice. No members of the public spoke at the hearing.
Under consent, the board also accepted a donation from the Town of Fletcher of a 2018 Harley Davidson Electra Glide FLHTP requested by the Sheriff's Office and approved a resolution declaring a Henderson County EMS ambulance as surplus and authorizing its donation to the Henderson County Rescue Squad under N.C.G.S. 160A‑280. The board approved the Tax Collector's pending release and refund report as presented and accepted the March 2026 County Financial and Cash Balance Reports.
Housing Assistance Corporation's request to renew its lease for office space at 100 N. King St. was approved for the 12‑month period beginning June 1, 2026. Several board appointment items lacked nominations and were carried to the next meeting.
These items were adopted as part of the consent agenda; motions to approve carried unanimously.
