Derby Select Board approves warrants, licenses and contracts; tables parking decision on Park & Ride grant

The Town of Derby Select Board met June 8, 2026, and approved routine financial and permitting actions while deferring a decision about converting town property to parking tied to a state Park & Ride grant.
Select Board members Steve Gendreau, Gwen Bailey-Rowe, Brad Shattuck, Brian Smith and Grant Spates were listed as present. The board signed warrants #12A ($33,349.43) and #12B ($123,911.87). Brad Shattuck moved to approve the minutes of May 11, 2026; Brian Smith seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
In a series of unanimous votes the board approved an ADA Traffic Control LTD agreement, excess-weight permits for Desrochers Bulk Service Inc., Peckham Materials Corp. and Structural Wood Corporation, and renewed VT Pie & Pasta's liquor license (the board briefly convened as the Liquor Control Board for that renewal). The board accepted a low bid of $9,500 from Alan Desroches Electrical Services LLC for electrical work at the Derby Green following executive session; the board did not approve a requested contract extension for Matt Wright’s Skate Shack rental and will revisit the rental agreement when the current contract expires in 2027.
The board also approved allocations for the town’s four annual coin-drop permits, granting them to Derby Line Fire Department, Village of Derby Line, Lake Salem Association and a split permit for Dailey Memorial Library and Derby Historic Society. Maryann Tetreault presented a plan to list delinquent taxpayers in the annual town report (total amount only, individual amounts not listed); the board approved the proposal.
Board members spent more time discussing several agenda items without taking formal action: a proposed $60,000 Park & Ride grant that carries a $20,000 local match, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Wildcats for soccer-field use, and financial pressures facing the Solid Waste district.
The board adjourned at 8:40 p.m. and scheduled its next regular meeting for 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2026.
