Authority reports on inspections, pump work and commercial sewer connections; Royal Farms opens, Wawa to open this week

During the June 9 meeting the Authority heard routine operations and development updates from Sewer Operator Tim Watson and Engineer Fred Ebert.

Ebert told the board that 53 laterals have been inspected in 2025 and 15 have required repair, yielding a 28% repair rate to date. He also reported that Royal Farms and Wawa have secured their permits and recorded sanitary sewer easements at the Montgomery County Courthouse; Royal Farms opened the morning of the meeting and Wawa was scheduled to open on Thursday.

Watson said the annual calibration of all flow meters passed. He reported nine castings were installed as part of paving work on Karen Drive, Tyler Court and Prospect Hill, and noted that eight of those castings were cracked but were original castings for the development. Watson and Ebert said they have observed anomalous flow at the top section of the Woodgate Development and will have Sewer Specialties perform further inspection during the next significant rain event.

On equipment, Watson said controllers on Porter Road are operating smoothly. He expects to pick up VFD pumps for Villa Drive this week and will coordinate an inspection with the vendor before taking possession; a new controller and panel are expected in two to three weeks.

On audits, Manager Wagner reported a preliminary 2024 audit has been performed but that the Authority is waiting on Pottstown’s numbers to complete the full audit; as of June 3 the Borough’s audit had not been finalized.
