Lake maintenance audit finds improvement; compressor noise and Edgewater flooding under review

Bill Kurth, representing Premier Lakes, told the River Ridge board that the lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are generally in good shape but that algae growth had been observed and a palm tree on Lake E7A’s shoreline was removed as part of maintenance. He said a cabinet installed around a compressor at Masters Lake lowered the measured sound level from 64 to 52 decibels between the compressor and the screen line and judged the level acceptable.

Operations Manager Shane Willis said the problem is not only decibel level but the tone of the aerator; he recommended considering moving the compressor. Mr. Willis and Mr. Kurth will coordinate on potential relocation and report findings at the next meeting.

Chair Bob Schultz summarized concerns in Edgewater, including flooding, piping needs, additional littorals on Lake E-4A and rip-rap, and recommended meeting with Tim Wilkin at Edgewater 1 NUR to seek acceptable solutions with the association. The Board agreed to delay plantings in Lake E4-A until they reach an agreement with the Edgewater Association and placed that planting proposal on hold.

Separately, Mr. Willis presented the Annual Quality Assurance Audit for lake maintenance and dry retention, reporting that water levels were high this cycle but that the audit found no compliance issues and that the lakes have improved under Premier Lakes’ maintenance; he recommended performing the audit earlier next year.
