Resident reports persistent drainage and ponding; board directs engineer to inspect
Summary
Resident Shari Perkins told the River Ridge board that drains at the Pinehurst triangle remain clogged a week after being plugged and that a retention pond between River 8 and River 9 is nearly 1 foot above the drain. The board asked the District Engineer to inspect and requested photographs/video from the resident.
Resident Shari Perkins told the River Ridge Community Development District Board that, a week after a street drain was plugged, water continued to overflow at the Pinehurst triangle monument and that a nearby retention pond appears nonfunctional and “is nearly 1’ above the drain.” She said she has photographs and will obtain video for staff.
District Engineer John Baker explained the plugged inlet stopped an intersystem push of water but left no place for standing water to go, describing the condition as “akin to a very tiny pond in a pipe.” He said resolving the problem will likely require additional study. The Board directed staff to collect photographic/video evidence and directed the District Engineer to view the drainage firsthand.
Resident Ed Nowak later asked about the outflow location at the northern end of Pinehurst Greens Drive. District Manager Chuck Adams said the water ultimately flows to the Estero River and described the pipe route across residences, the golf course and into the ditch leading to the River Club.
No formal motion or funding decision was made at the meeting. Staff will add the engineer’s site visit and any study recommendations to a future agenda if further work is required.
