The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Planning Board on June 18 approved the preliminary plat of Lillian's Landing (two lots, access from Hourglass Lake) contingent on staff recommendations, and continued ASLS 2019-69 to the July 2 meeting to allow the Assembly time to act within the 30-day review period.
Staff reported Lillian's Landing met soils and usable area requirements; both lots will rely on lake access because the adjacent West Camp Drive is a private easement that does not meet borough legal access standards. No public comments were received on Lillian's Landing and the board approved the preliminary plat by voice vote with no recorded objections.
On ASLS 2019-69 (a 238.39-acre parcel vacating and dedicating public-use easements), staff recommended continuation because the Assembly will not meet within the borough's 30-day review window if the board acted today; the board voted to continue the item to July 2, 2026.
Planning officer Tyler Young also told the board that the borough must switch its legal-notice publication from the Frontiersman to the Anchorage Daily News after the Frontiersman ceased print. That change lengthens notification timelines; staff proposed July dates for legal training to meet notification requirements and invited board input.
The board welcomed new planning member Roman Bono and adjourned the meeting at about 2:15 p.m.
