Miss Stephanie Ebert presented the county’s proposed final tax rates for 2026 and explained the assessor’s completed valuations led to an overall increase in property values. Ebert said this dynamic reduced certified tax rates: "as designed, what that means for our property tax rates is that the tax rates have decreased because the values have increased." She explained the county did not go through Truth in Taxation for 2026 and listed four taxing-entity rates: Weber County combined .001894; assessing and collecting .000159; municipal services .000156; Summit Road Overlay .000494.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions. A commissioner confirmed the prior combined rate was .001938 and noted the change reflects the higher valuations. Ebert clarified that individual taxpayers may still see increases depending on their property’s assessed change or actions by other taxing entities that pursue Truth in Taxation.
A motion to approve and adopt the final tax rates and budgets for 2026 was moved and seconded; the board voted in favor by voice vote and the chair announced the motion carried. The vote implemented the county’s 2026 property tax rates as presented and advanced the county budget for the year.
