A resident of the borough’s First Ward told the council she was "very happy that you guys met your deadline and got the pool open in time," praising recent improvements and high attendance, including a daycare group of about 30–40 children on June 13.
The mayor commended volunteers and organizers, singled out Candy Lynn for work at Canal Park, and thanked public works and donors for helping the pool reopen successfully. "The water clarity has been awesome," the mayor said, noting improvements to pumps and a variable frequency drive that have kept the water clear.
The pool manager described ongoing operational challenges but said staff and family support have kept daily operations functioning. "It's been a challenge... I have a great staff," the pool manager said, adding that while there are outstanding issues to address, weekday and weekend attendance has improved since reopening.
Council members and staff credited a donation from the Horwitz Trucking family and public‑works efforts for making the reopening possible. Officials also reported that the community pool opened June 6 and has seen some of the best weekend attendance in years.
The council noted vandalism at park bathrooms and reiterated that hours are limited (generally closing in the early evening unless the facility is rented). Next steps identified by members include follow‑up on security and maintenance needs and continuing coordination between pool management and public works.
