Jefferson School District 14J adopts $17.96 million budget, levies $4.8468 per $1,000 tax rate

Terry Mitchell, chair of the Jefferson School District 14J board, moved to adopt Resolution 26.06.001 at the board’s June 18 meeting, and the board approved the measure to adopt the district’s fiscal-year 2026–27 budget. The resolution lists a total adopted budget of $17,960,954 and states a permanent tax rate of $4.8468 per $1,000 of assessed value.

The motion to adopt the budget, levy taxes and make appropriations was seconded and the roll call recorded affirmative votes from Tracy Rose, Kevin Smith and Chair Mitchell. The board read the resolution into the record and noted detailed appropriations for general, special revenue, ASB, debt service and capital funds are on file at the district administrative office.

Board members said the numbers were prepared as part of the district’s budget process and that the budget document is available for public review. The resolution text read into the minutes enumerated fund totals and line-item appropriations; the board noted totals and supporting schedules are available at the district office and posted with meeting materials. The board declared the resolution adopted on June 18, 2026.

Next steps: the board will proceed with fiscal-year operations under the adopted appropriations and maintain the published budget documents on file for public inspection.
