Van Buren supervisors accept resignations, appoint deputy and dispatcher, and adopt ordinance and tax-values resolution

At its Nov. 24 meeting the Van Buren County Board of Supervisors recorded several personnel actions and administrative approvals.
On motion by House, seconded by Meek, the board accepted the resignation of David Topping, a full-time equipment operator, effective Dec. 1, 2025 (Ayes: 3). Separately, on motion by Waugh, seconded by House, the board accepted the resignation of Kylely Teeter, a full-time dispatcher/jailer, effective Nov. 11, 2025 (Ayes: 3).
Following the resignation action, and upon the county sheriff's recommendation, the board appointed Tyler Stoltz of Keosauqua as a full-time deputy sheriff effective Nov. 24, 2025, at a salary of $27.14 per hour (Ayes: 3). The board also appointed Jaymee McClain of Ottumwa as a full-time dispatcher/jailer effective Dec. 1, 2025, at $22.92 per hour (Ayes: 3).
The supervisors waived the second reading of Van Buren County Ordinance #2025-1, an ordinance re-adopting the county code of ordinances, and, having received no public comment, acknowledged and approved the second reading (Ayes: 3).
The board also approved Resolution #11-24-2025, directing the county auditor to spread the assessed and taxable values of utility companies for the 2025 assessment year (payable FY2026-27) as fixed by the Director of Revenue pursuant to Code of Iowa §433.9 (Roll Call: Meek ' Aye; Waugh ' Aye; House ' Aye).
Finally, the board approved routine payroll and claims for the period and acknowledged a one-year Manure Management Plan update for Nathan Porter (Porter Bros Livestock Site 1, Facility #62630) before adjourning at 9:50 a.m.
