Wymore council approves EMS board slate, changes FD meeting time and OKs clerk training

Wymore Mayor Collin Meints convened the City Council on Nov. 15, 2023, and the council approved a series of routine personnel and administrative items, including ratification of EMS board members, a bylaw change for the Fire Department, and authorization for the clerk to attend statewide training.
The council unanimously approved the minutes of the previous meeting and accepted claims and payroll, with one item handled separately: a vote on check #27687 passed 3-0 with Councilperson Max Allen recorded as abstaining. Councilperson Sue Sapp moved to approve the treasurer’s report; the motion carried 4-0.
In public comments, Councilperson Max Allen thanked Tim and the city crew for installing and repairing the community’s Christmas lights. Mark Meints told the council the Fire Department had received a $1,500 grant from Norris Public Power for a new hose tester. Tim reported that the city received a safety grant from LARM and used the funds to buy backup cameras for two city trucks.
The council authorized "Janet" to attend the 2024 Nebraska Municipal Clerks Institute and Academy in Columbus, March 17–22, 2024, approving payment of registration, hotel, meals and mileage reimbursement (motion by Max Allen; second by Sue Sapp; carried 4-0). Councilmember Max Allen also requested that the per diem rate be placed on the next agenda for review.
Shawna Argo presented the newly elected EMS board roster for 2023–2024. The council approved the slate and a special election elevating Amanda Jarchow to Secretary/Treasurer for a one-year term; Clark McMurray moved from Secretary/Treasurer to Safety/Training Officer (motion by Max Allen; second by Neil VanBoening; carried 4-0).
The council approved a change to the Fire Department bylaws (Article 6, Section 2) to move the regular monthly meeting time from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the second Monday of each month (motion by Sue Sapp; second by Max Allen; carried 4-0).
Tim provided an update on the city’s search for a new engineer, saying he met with CES of Marysville, Kansas, and planned to meet with JEO of Omaha the following week and would report back to the council.
The meeting ended at 7:20 p.m. after a motion to adjourn by Councilperson Sue Sapp. No ordinances or budget measures requiring multiple readings were taken at this session.
