Council expands Suffach Road no‑parking zone; churches and school ask for limited adjustment

Councilor Baker and nearby church leaders urged a small amendment: rather than extending the full no‑parking band past the church driveway, preserve a short bank of two‑hour spaces so the church and its older participants can continue to access funerals, the food pantry and polling activities. Reverend Mike D'Angelo and church warden Carla Todd Barrett described frequent non‑Sunday uses — funerals, food pantry services, and polling — and asked the council to retain limited daytime access. Chestnut Hill School head Roderick McNeel Jr. also asked the council to balance community uses.
Chair Koses proposed adjusted draft language reflecting the Baker amendment; councilors confirmed the revised text and voted to approve the motion as amended (voice roll call carried 5–0). Koses said the change would take effect after the appeals period; staff will modify the posted signs accordingly.
