Commission signs notice to proceed for Horse Creek Bridge contract with Battle Ridge Builders

The Park County Board of Commissioners approved a notice to proceed and agreement for the Horse Creek Bridge project on April 14, authorizing the county’s selected contractor to begin procurement of long‑lead materials.
County staff said the low bidder was Battle Ridge Builders and that signing the notice gives the contractor the ability to order beams and other materials now. Staff said actual construction will not start until around June 1, approximately when school is out.
Commissioners noted Battle Ridge Builders has completed multiple county projects without issues. Commissioner Wells moved to sign the notice to proceed and the agreement; the motion was seconded and approved on a verbal vote of “aye.”
County staff and grants personnel also said they are pursuing a Montana Department of Transportation funding request related to Horse Creek and other bridge work that could provide cost savings on the larger project.
