York Board of Education approves pay increases for support staff and administrators

Board member Brian Tonniges moved to approve the support-staff wage adjustments, and Alison North seconded. The motion, which the board approved on a unanimous roll-call vote, set new starting ranges and specified a 4% raise for current employees. The approved starting ranges are: paraprofessionals $16.00–$18.50; sub-paraprofessionals $16.00; bus drivers $18.00–$20.00 (all vehicle types); custodians $17.25–$19.25; head custodians $23.00–$25.00; 10/11-month administrative assistants $16.50–$18.50; and 12-month administrative assistants $19.50–$21.50.
Later in the meeting, Board member Alex Hildebrand moved and Pepper Papineau seconded a separate motion to grant a 3% increase for all administrators and directors; that motion also passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
The board also handled routine business earlier in the meeting. Member Matt Holthe moved to approve the April 27, 2026 minutes, with Alex Hildebrand seconding; the minutes were approved unanimously. Pepper Papineau moved to approve the bills and checks for payment, seconded by Alison North; that motion likewise passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
