Beach committee updates contact matrix, plans mailing to confirm volunteer reps

The South Dennis Beach Committee used its Jan. 8 meeting to review and update a town beach-contact matrix and to assign or confirm representatives for individual beaches.
Committee members went beach by beach (Bayview, Chapin, Cold Storage, Depot Street, Harborview, House Street, Inman, Mayflower, Raycroft, South Village, West Dennis and others), noted several outdated or missing contacts, and reallocated responsibilities where volunteers were unavailable. The chair and members recorded who would follow up to confirm contact details.
Dustin said the committee will circulate an updated letter to contacts — the letter in the meeting packet was dated Sept. 17, 2025 — and asked members to forward any corrected contact information. The committee agreed to use the updated grid and to have Joanne (town administration) included in email copies so the town can follow up and schedule a meeting or breakfast for volunteers.
Members discussed practical next steps for verifying contacts and said they will not begin outreach until the revised letter is complete. The committee also noted some long-standing volunteers (including retired residents) who may still be willing to serve and said they would reach out to confirm availability.
No formal vote was taken; the item will proceed via staff and member follow-up and a finalized mailing.
