Trustees say Republic remains best option so far as contract talks continue

Trustee Crowley told trustees the village’s contract with Republic is approaching its end and that village leaders have met with Republic representatives to review renewal options. Crowley said he expects a final quote to present to the board so the village can plan for next year.
For transparency, Crowley and the mayor said they solicited other vendors; only one vendor, Homewood Disposal, met with them and did not provide a comparable written quote or pricing that could beat Republic’s proposal. “Only one person... they were from Homewood Disposal and no quote was offered as they could not compete with Republic's pricing,” Crowley said. Trustees indicated they will continue discussions and return with formal proposals.
No formal procurement decision was made at the meeting; trustees said they aim to have contract terms in place well before the end of the year and to present options for the board to review.
