Board OKs Creek Pointe engineering contracts, community corrections grant and local allocations including $30,000 opioid settlement funds

At its June 17 meeting the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners approved several project contracts and grants.
The board awarded engineering services for the MSHDA CDBG Creek Pointe subdivision infrastructure project to ROWE Professional Services Company for an amount not to exceed $131,000 and awarded environmental review services for the same project to Fleis & VandenBrink for up to $16,750; the board authorized the chair to execute the necessary documents.
The board also approved Resolution #26-06-10, authorizing submission of the FY 2027 Community Corrections Grant application in the amount of $118,425.32 and allowing the Community Corrections Advisory Board to take necessary steps for submission.
In health and facilities items, commissioners allocated up to $30,000 of opioid settlement funds to the Health Department to provide drug remediation support for New Directions consumers, adopted the Health Department’s 2025 annual report, and approved a proposal from Collard’s and Ludington to construct a VA garage and parking lot expansion in a contract not to exceed $100,678 (recorded vote 6–1; Commissioner Shepard voted nay). The board also approved replacing an assistant prosecutor (7–0).
