On June 17 the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution No. 26-06-11, adopting a Planning & Zoning Fee Schedule and a retainer fee policy for zoning applications and development petitions in townships where the county administers planning and zoning.
The resolution lists application fees ($65 for zoning permits; $130 for appeals, variances, site plan review and map amendments), describes the retainer-estimate process (Zoning Administrator provides an estimated retainer within 10 business days of receipt), and sets procedures for monitoring expenses, issuing revised retainer estimates when costs exceed 75% of the retainer, refunding unused retainer funds, and appealing retainer amounts to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
The board moved (Howard) and seconded (Garber) to approve the resolution; the motion carried as recorded in the minutes. The resolution cites authority under the Michigan Planning Enabling Act and the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act and is effective July 1, 2026.
