Broken Bow awards $432,190 contract to Myers Construction for Highway 2 water‑main replacement

BROKEN BOW, Neb. — The Broken Bow City Council voted Feb. 11 to award a $432,190 contract to Myers Construction for the 2024 Water Main Replacement project on Highway 2 from 10th to 15th Street. Councilmember Russ Smith moved to award the contract and Councilmember Travis Kleeb seconded; Smith, Kleeb and Councilmember Paul Holland voted in favor and Councilmember Joe Wamsley abstained.

City Administrator David Schmidt said two bids were received and were “very close to each other, approximately $1,500 apart,” and read a recommendation from project engineer JEO that the city award the work to Myers Construction, the low bidder at $432,190. “I concur with their assessment because they have done several successful projects with the City of Broken Bow, and they are the lowest bidder,” Schmidt said.

The engineer’s written recommendation and Schmidt’s concurrence were the primary justification the council cited for awarding the work.
