Beardstown council approves $63,390.70 supplemental resolution for Wall Street sidewalk, schedules building-ordinance discussion

Alderperson Eric Harbin moved to adopt the final supplemental resolution, and Alderperson Dawn Seward seconded the motion; the measure passed 8-0 by roll call vote. Earlier in the meeting, Alderperson Dawn Seward moved that the reading of the Sept. 16, 2025 minutes be dispensed with and that the minutes be approved as published. Alderperson Allie Dawson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously by voice vote. The council also approved the Consent Agenda on a motion from Alderperson Eric Harbin, seconded by Alderperson Shawn Taylor; that omnibus motion passed unanimously by roll call and included routine disbursements for the period ending Oct. 7, 2025.
During public comment, resident Chris Baer asked the council for permission to use Art Zeeck Park for a Shop with a Cop fundraiser scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24, 2025. The request was recorded on the public-comment portion of the agenda; no formal vote on the park use was recorded in the meeting minutes.
In his report, Mayor Tim Harris said the Fall Festival was successful and noted the new Lincoln statue in the downtown area. He said the council discussed convening a building committee to address the vacant building ordinance and enforcement; no formal committee appointment or enforcement action was recorded at the meeting.
The council adjourned at 6:31 p.m. on a motion by Alderperson Allie Dawson, seconded by Alderperson Dawn Seward.
