Beardstown City Council approves $459,350 insurance quote and several municipal contracts; fire station roof repair passes 6-1

The Beardstown City Council on Nov. 18 approved routine business and several vendor contracts, including a $459,350 insurance quote for 2026 and a $38,650 award for fire station roof repairs.
Alderperson Eric Harbin moved to dispense with the reading of the Nov. 4 minutes and approve them; Alderperson Lisa Buhlig seconded the motion, which passed unanimously by voice vote. The council next approved the consent agenda, on a motion by Alderperson Allie Dawson-Hoenes seconded by Alderperson Shawn Taylor, by unanimous roll-call vote. Disbursements for the period ending Nov. 18, 2025 were noted under the omnibus designation.
Under the omnibus votes, Alderperson Allie Dawson-Hoenes moved “to accept a quote for $459,350.00 for ICRMT insurance for 2026,” seconded by Alderperson Lisa Buhlig; the motion passed unanimously. The council also accepted a Brotcke Well & Pump bid of $61,294.00 for water-supply work on three test wells after a motion from Alderperson Eric Harbin and a second from Alderperson Shawn Taylor; that motion passed unanimously.
On a separate motion, Alderperson Keith Schramm moved to accept a $38,650.00 bid from River City Roofing for repairs to the Beardstown Fire Station roof; Alderperson Eric Harbin seconded. The motion passed 6-1 under the Omnibus Vote Designation, with Alderperson Allie Dawson-Hoenes casting the lone recorded no vote.
In non-vote remarks, Mayor Tim Harris announced the city’s Christmas Markt will open Nov. 28 with hours of 4–7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Saturday; Alderperson Lisa Buhlig thanked a water-department employee named Dustin for his assistance and thanked Chief Coad for conducting an active-shooter drill.
The meeting adjourned at 6:06 p.m. on a motion by Alderperson Allie Dawson-Hoenes, seconded by a participant identified in the minutes as Davis; the clerk’s minutes were submitted by City Clerk Katherine Vitale.
