Board approves Bridal Services participation in Flower Mound holiday parade; Animal Services truck to be decorated

The Flower Mound Bridal Services Board voted to allow the Bridal Services subcommittee to collaborate with Flower Mound Animal Services to decorate an Animal Services truck and participate in the town holiday parade, subject to staff direction on logistics and approvals.

A subcommittee presenter described concepts that included a Grinch-themed truck topper, lights and a person in costume riding in the truck, plus stuffed animals placed in shelter crates for donation or raffle at the event. "It's a fun way to spotlight Flower Mound Animal Services among residents," the presenter said, proposing that the group decorate the truck and hand out donated items during the parade.

Staff and board members discussed operational details: the group must arrive early to line up and may need up to 90–120 minutes to decorate while in line; electrical needs for inflatables and lights may require battery packs; town staff would check whether non-staff riders may be in a vehicle at a town event; shelter animals shown should be vaccinated and comfortable with crowds. Staff said they can help with undecorating and storage of decorations after the event if supplies are provided.

A motion to have the Bridal Services Board participate in the Christmas parade, decorate the Animal Services truck and provide giveaways under the shelter director's approval was moved and seconded, and the board approved the motion.

Next steps identified included staff confirming rules on decorations and riders, establishing access to a vehicle on parade day and coordinating volunteers and donated giveaway logistics.
