Cudahy council approves water tower loan, salary changes, social-media policies and two board appointments

At its July 21, 2015 meeting the Cudahy Common Council unanimously approved a loan to the Cudahy Water Utility to paint the city water tower, adopted two ordinances adjusting 2015 salaries, approved social-media policies for public safety departments, set the 2016 budget timetable and confirmed two appointments; a resident raised street-repair concerns during public comment.
The Common Council of the City of Cudahy met July 21, 2015, and unanimously approved a series of routine municipal actions including a loan to the Cudahy Water Utility to pay for painting the city’s water tower and changes to employee pay ordinances.
Alderperson Bartoshevich moved approval of the consent agenda, which included minutes from several boards and committees and claims totaling $916,945.58; Ald. Hollenbeck seconded, and the motion carried on a roll call vote. The council later approved the minutes of the June 30 regular meeting and the July 1 Rules, Laws & License Committee minutes in separate motions.
On licensing matters, the council held over a Class B liquor license request for 3778 E. Pulaski Avenue pending inspections. The body approved renewal of a used-auto dealer license for Aleid Auto Sales, LLC, represented in the record as Mohamad Adnan Mohamad, pending inspections.
In a separate measure, the council approved a loan from the city to the Cudahy Water Utility to fund painting of the water tower. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
The council adopted two ordinances amending 2015 salary schedules: Ordinance No. 2373.8, affecting certain department heads including the superintendent of public works, and Ordinance No. 2374.12, addressing salaries for some non-union employees in engineering and DPW. Both ordinances were approved by unanimous roll call votes.
Council members approved social-media policies for both the Fire Department and the Police Department. The body also approved the proposed 2016 budget timetable as presented.
Mayor John Hohenfeldt’s appointment of Sal Maresh to the Property Maintenance Appeals Board (to serve the remainder of a term expiring Oct. 1, 2015) and the reappointment of Lynn Damitz to a two-year term on the Board of Health (to expire June 30, 2017) were confirmed by council motion.
Two resolutions were adopted: Resolution No. 6960, recognizing Officer Francis E. Stahl for 28 years of service to the Cudahy Police Department, and Resolution No. 6961, allowing the claim of Walter Wood. During public comment, Jerry Wenglewski of 3713 E. Carpenter Ave. addressed Spring Cleanup and reconstruction work on Barnard and Packard avenues.
The council adjourned at 7:28 p.m. after a final unanimous motion to adjourn.
