Amanda Clair, the commission’s Recreation Coordinator, told the Commission for Individuals with Special Needs on June 9 that staff training for Rainbow Day Camp is scheduled for June 24 and the camp will run July 6 through August 14 at the lower Woodtick pavilion.
“The bingo went well; everyone had a great time,” Clair said, thanking donors and volunteers who helped run the event. She also said the Memorial Day Parade was enjoyable for participants and that she will send a thank-you note to Mark Bove for use of his trailer.
Clair announced a sock hop on June 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with ice cream provided for attendees, saying the commission “will need to buy some” ice cream for the event. She reported she has contacted the bus company about a new coordinator and is awaiting a reply; she added that Ms. Woods has planned the camp’s field trips for the summer.
The coordinator’s report focused on carrying out scheduled summer activities and ensuring transportation and program staffing are in place. No formal vote was required for the items reported. The commission’s minutes note volunteers and donors supported recent recreation events and that staff are preparing for a busy camp season beginning in July.
