Resident asks for Charger Street speed hump; commission to redeploy radar signs and review data

A Charger Street resident told the Traffic Commission on June 18 that repeated speeding and heavy commercial deliveries have endangered neighbors and that previous data collection supports installing a speed hump.
Christine Robertson presented LED-board and speed-study evidence and asked the commission to deploy a temporary speed hump as a 90-day trial if follow-up data confirm continuing high speeds. Staff responded they would redeploy radar speed boards and collect next-week traffic data; if the 85th-percentile speed remains above the 25 mph speed limit (staff previously recorded about 27 mph in the block), the working group will consider immediate placement of a temporary speed hump and later permanent installation with neighbor notification.
Commissioners emphasized proper neighbor notice before any permanent installation and flagged vegetation issues where stop signs were obscured as already addressed by staff. The commission did not send Charger Street to public hearing but asked the traffic working group and Revere Police Department to follow up with enforcement and data collection and to return recommendations.
