Beaufort County commissioners approved a special-use permit to permit short-term rental (Airbnb) use on a family property after hearing from the applicants, who said the permit would provide income while they attend college.
Kevin Mac Jr introduced himself and said he attended with his sister Danielle; Danielle told the board they have held the property for decades and plan family management while they are in school. County staff confirmed sewer and fire inspections had been completed and that required documentation was on file.
A board member moved to approve the special-use permit; another board member seconded and the board voted in favor by voice/show of hands. The applicants were thanked and wished success in college. No public comment was received on the item and no conditions beyond normal county requirements were noted in the transcript.
