Vernon County committee to send Kruger settlement participation resolution to full board ahead of Aug. 17 deadline

Cassandra Hanan, Vernon County administrative coordinator, told the committee on July 10 that a resolution to join the Kruger opioid settlement will be forwarded to the full county board this month. Hanan said the county must complete participation steps before Aug. 17, 2024, to be eligible for settlement funds.
Committee members discussed outreach and publicity but did not vote on settlement participation during the meeting. Hanan also reported that the opioid prevention fund balance stood at $334,698.58, unchanged from the prior month, and that no reimbursement requests had been received to date.
No formal action to authorize participation in the settlement was recorded at the committee level during the July 10 meeting; Hanan described the board-level resolution as the next step. The committee scheduled a follow-up meeting for Sept. 11, 2024, when members may receive further updates after any county-board action.
