Resident urges commission to block 360‑unit apartment plan proposed for Pine Crest golf course

Andrea Presley, a Bluffton resident, used the public‑comment period on July 23 to oppose an apparent landowner plan to build 360 apartments on the Pine Crest golf course driving range. Presley gave her name and address and said her single‑family neighborhood would be adversely affected by added traffic onto McCracken Way, Masters and Buckwalter Parkway and by proximity to Bluffton High School, local daycares and private schools.
"Having apartments in our community would be devastating for us," Presley said, and added that, based on conversations with her attorney, the owner does not appear to hold the PUD rights necessary for the change. Presley said neighbors had circulated a petition and had presented it to the town council earlier in the month.
In response, planning staff (addressed as Kevin by the chair) said no application for review has been submitted and that the planning department will notify the community if a formal application is filed. The chair thanked Presley for coming and noted that the commission had not seen any formal plans at that time.
