Mechanic Falls council approves liquor license renewal, accepts FY 2027 budget warrant and awards $333,690 road contract

The Mechanic Falls Town Council voted unanimously at its March 2, 2026 meeting to approve a series of routine actions, including a liquor license renewal, the FY 2027 budget warrant and a road-construction contract.
Councilor Walter Berry moved to approve the annual liquor license renewal for American Legion Post #150, and Councilor Mary Martin seconded; the motion passed 4-0. Town records show the post has paid its annual fee for renewal.
Councilor Darrell Young moved to accept the FY 2027 budget warrant, with Councilor Walter Berry seconding; the motion carried 4-0. The council noted the warrant places the municipal budget on the June 9, 2026 ballot for taxpayer consideration.
On contracting, the council accepted the recommended 2026 road bid from Spencer Paving Group in the amount of $333,690. Councilor Walter Berry made the motion; Councilor Mary Martin seconded and the council approved the award by a 4-0 vote.
Other routine business included acceptance of the February 2 meeting minutes and the monthly department reports, both approved 4-0 on motions made by Councilor Berry and Councilor Martin.
The meeting adjourned at 6:48 p.m.; the council's next regular meeting is scheduled for April 6, 2026.
