Vernon County health department seeks grant for xylazine and fentanyl test strips; sheriff says deputies carry naloxone

Kleiber presented the grant application as part of the department’s harm‑reduction efforts. Sheriff Roy Torgerson added that deputies continue to carry both 4 mg and 2 mg naloxone formulations on calls.
No dollar amounts for the test‑strip grant were discussed at the meeting. The committee did not take a formal vote on the grant application; it remains under review and may appear for formal consideration at a future meeting.
