The Somerton Elementary District governing board approved multiple routine consent items during its Feb. 11 meeting.
Motions passed by voice vote included approval of the School Parent Support Organization for Somerton Middle School (motion by Miss Arola; second by Miss Clark), acceptance of the FY23-24 annual audit (motion by Miss Mark; second by Miss Arola), authorization to offer contracts to certified staff for FY25-26 contingent on funding and certification requirements (motion by Miss Clark; second by Miss Ola), and approval of the FY25-26 school calendar (Option B). Board members indicated the calendar change followed a district staff survey of 445 employees (361 responses) and that the favored option moves the winter break one week later, making the winter break Dec. 22–Jan. 9.
Votes were recorded as voice votes during the meeting and were announced as "motion carries"; specific roll-call tallies were not read into the record.
The board also discussed scheduling a finance work-study for March 25 and a half-day retreat in late June to review the year’s accomplishments and next year’s priorities; those dates were discussed rather than formally adopted during the meeting.
